Blackberry Smoke Release Little Milton Cover “Grits Ain’t Groceries” Featuring Jim

  Blackberry Smoke has released another single from their current covers EP “Live From Capricorn Sound Studios”. This time they have done a cover of Little Minton’s Grits Ain’t Groceries and joining them is Jimmy Hall & The Black Bettys. The band has made it their own by giving it a southern rock vibe versus the original which is a bit more soulful and has horns. I think both versions are excellent but I do like the rocking sound the band has brought to us on this.

Hall’s vocals are perfect for the song. This version of the song is also about a minute longer than the original and that just makes this that much more special. Again, I don’t see how you can be disappointed with this one. Everything about this is pure joy and a great way to enjoy anytime of a day. The video shows the band performing and watching them is always great to see what they bring the song. A great job by everyone involved. Check it out below.
