Eddie Van Halen Passes At The Age Of 65 From Cancer. Legend Doesn’t Define Him Enough!
Eddie Van Halen died of Cancer today at the age of 65. It saddens me to report this. His influence is beyond words. What he did with his guitar and the rock world changed the genre. I still remember when my friends and I first heard Eruption and You Really Got Me and how blown away we were. More than anything it was inspiring and fresh. I was fortunate to have been able to see him more than once. Seeing him play his Frankenstein guitar will always be a great memory. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen. I am truly at a loss for words here. As well as the emotional ride I have been going through about this.
His son Wolfgang stated this today;
“I can’t believe I’m having to write this but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.”
It was hard to read that today. He is gone way too soon. He will be missed.
