Happy New Year!

This is Heart singing Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors night in tribute to Led Zeppelin.  Take notice as to how the Mighty Zep actually listen to the song and even bring tears to Robert Plant. The key is they paid attention and were moved by the performance. They appreciated it. I thought it was worth viewing again in case some of you didn’t even see it.

Jason Newsted said he would return to Metallica if certain criteria were met. Basically they would have to be brofessional (his word not mine) and sit in a room, just the band, no managers and agree to a certain amount of dates and money. Then he would do it. But Metallica has to come to him. I personally don’t see that happening.

Thousand Foot Krutch will be releasing a new record in April called The End Is Where We Begin, followed by a tour.

Lita Ford is back talking about the Runaway’s reunion, but says it’s in Joan Jett’s court. Joan, I guess, is the one who will decide one way or the other.

Testament’s Alex Skolnick will be releasing a book in paperback on January 15, called: From Geek To Guitar Hero.

Ritchie Sambora says the new Bon Jovi record will sound like them because they are recording it (pretty deep, huh?). That being said, they changed some of how they produce records. It will be somewhat stripped down and yet have some different elements that they are experimenting with. The new single comes out January 7th. It is called Because We Can, followed by the record in Spring 2013.

Children of Bodom are working on a new album.

Zakk Wylde is going to be doing an unplugged thing this coming year called Unblackened.

Neil Young is working on having a cloud based online music service called PONO. It will be all high-resolution music. He expects to have it released by the summer of 2013. He will also look to roll out analog and digital players.

Sixx A.M. are looking to record a new album in 2013 and maybe some live dates.

Tooth and Nail (all the original members of Dokken without Don), have announced that they were able to get Michael Sweet from Stryper to front the band on their up and coming tour.

U2’s manager, Paul Mcguinness, says to expect a new U2 record. Their last release was No Line On The Horizon from 2009.

I was sad to hear that R.E.M.’s track, The End Of The World As We Know It, jumped up 612% last week. Not only did the Mayans disappoint with their prediction they helped one of the worst bands think that people might want them to reform. If that happens, maybe the song would be prophetic and end the world as I know it.
