Music News For The Week Of April 20, 2014!

I was saddened this week when Robert Plant stated that the chances for a Led Zeppelin reunion were zero! Very disappointed on that news. Reflect on that for a moment. See, it is very sad that I, meaning all of us, will never get to experience the reunion.

Mastodon are streaming a new song called High Road, from their soon to be released (no date yet) album, Once More Round The Sun. You can hear it here:

Tesla has announced that their new album will be called Simplicity and it will be out in June.

In case you are keeping track, Paul Stanley’s book, Face The Music: A Life Exposed, debuted at number 2. The highest of the original four’s books. You can watch the trailer for it here: Yes, I have it and yes I will review it soon.

If you missed it and if you care, Stephen Pearcy has quit Ratt again. For good, apparently. You can eventually catch the band and Pearcy playing a club near you. Ratt should look to see if John Corabi is available, just doing my part.

Paul McCartney has announced more tour dates. You can get them here:

Lucky for you, here is another PSA. The Pixies have a new album streaming before it’s release. You are on your own and you are welcome.

3 Doors Down have announced more dates, get them here:

Not only is it Motley Crue’s last tour but apparently they are recording their final song for the tour. Yep, I knew that excited you. Just keeping you in the know.

Judas Priest is doing a countdown of sorts to their new album. If you go to their site every day they will reveal something as they get closer to the release. If you want to play along go here:

Marty Friedman (formerly of Megadeth) has released a new video for his new album Inferno coming out on May 27. Here is the title track:

Not like KISS hasn’t set trends before, or was it Jon Bon Jovi, but now Arena Football teams are the new thing. This time Vince Neal (tell me they didn’t influence him on the Tour), of Motley Crue just became part owner of the Jacksonville Sharks and he is hoping that they can move the team to Las Vegas in a couple of years.

Peter Frampton will be releasing Hummingbird In A Box out on June 24th. He is also touring and you can get dates here:

Last week’s Rockucation question was: What legendary song and band are these lyrics from: “With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound, He pulls the spitting high tension wires down, Helpless people on a subway train, Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them”. The answer is Blue Oyster Cult’s Godzilla. The answer comes to us from Rich Aubin in Jackson, NJ

Black Stone Cherry released the Never Surrender video from their soon to be released record Magic Mountain out May 6th. You can watch it here:

Kings Of Leon, Really? You want me to talk about them. Well here you go, I just did.

The Quireboys will be releasing their new album Black Eye Sons on June 16th.

Scar The Martyr is looking for a new singer and they are opening it to the public. The singer Henry Derek, quit, got fired or whatever and is no longer in the band. But if you want to submit your audition tapes, you can send them here: email your tryout video to

Zakk Wylde played a tribute to the fallen heroes of hard rock and heavy metal on the Revolver Golden Gods Awards show. The song is In This River, he plays piano. But there was a mistake. Jani Lane was listed as the singer of Motorhead. Depending on your perspective that could be an insult or an improvement or a disappointment, I’ll let you decide, but he sang for Warrant and I’m pretty sure Lemmy didn’t play Cherry Pie.  But you can watch the tribute here:

In case you missed it, and you watch the new show Salem, the song Cupid Carries A Gun, is from none other than Marilyn Manson. How appropriate right?
