Music News For The Week Of December 8, 2013!

Vintage Trouble – Total Strangers (Round 2) (NSFW) from Vintage Trouble on Vimeo.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love this band. The fact that they put out another video just makes me wish they were touring in my area right now. That being said, this is one of my favorite songs by them and the video does it justice. Even more exciting is the fact that they are going to record a new album. This one is from their Bomb Shelter Sessions record and if you don’t own it, you should. These guys are incredible!

Posted by Aerosmith, they are selling used equipment. Details are here: “We are doing an end of year cleaning here at Pandora’s Box and to make a little room the guys have decided to part with some of their road cases that have been used on tour for the last 25 years or so. All of the cases show extensive road wear and would be a one of a kind collectors item. The cases come in all shapes and sizes and have the Aerosmith logo stenciled on them. These are the real deal. Here’s the deal! Be at the bands warehouse Saturday, December 28th at 10:00am. It’s located at 155 Webster Street Suite J, Hanover, MA. Only the cases will be available in the warehouse at this time. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY PLEASE! This will be a first come first serve kind of thang. For questions please email us at

Monster Magnet canceled their North American tour due to frontman Dave Wyndorf having the flu. No rescheduled dates have been made as of yet.

Rush are joining the comic book world, I guess it’s just not a KISS thing anymore. Clockwork Angels will be a six book mini series coming out in the Spring of 2014.

Alter Bridge has announced the start of their North American tour. I can’t wait to see them. Been too long already. You can get dates here:

Johnny Winter will be celebrating his 70th (wow!) birthday with a 4 disc box set. It will be called True To The Blues, The Johnny Winter Story. It features performances by Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry and many others. It comes out on February 24th, 2014.

Okay, I have been mentioning that this may happen over the past year and sure enough Joey Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, etc) has formed a new supergroup called Legacy X. It also features Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, etc) on drums, Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder, etc) on bass and Jeff Watson (Night Ranger) on guitar. They plan to release their debut in the Spring of 2014.

Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) and Frank Bello (Anthrax) have released an EP called Altitudes and Attitude.

In case anyone was wondering, KISS won the online poll to be in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Shame. Hopefully, this will be enough to get them in. Thanks to all those who helped vote them in.

Adrenaline Mob has released a lyric video for Come And Get It for their up and coming release, Men Of Honor, due out Feb 18. You can watch it here:

AC/DC’s Brian Johnson landed his own TV Series in the UK on Quest TV called Cars That Rock. It comes out next Spring.

KISS has teamed up with Las Vegas tour leaders and they have come up with a KISS Limousine service. They open on December 20th.  You can check out the limos and get details here:

Last week’s Rockucation question was: What hotel was used in the Eagles Hotel California album? No one got this one right but the answer was the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Slipknot has parted ways with Joey Jordison. No one has said why due to legal reasons but they hope to say something soon. No replacement named.

Soulfly released a video for Bloodshed. It comes off their current Savages record. You can watch it here:

In case you are tracking this sort of thing Ben Whishaw (Skyfall movie), will be playing Freddy Mercury in the biopic film about Freddy.

Good news for Spotify listeners like myself. Led Zeppelin made a deal to have their albums put on it. Starting December 11 through the 15th, they will be releasing the albums in order, two a day until the 15th where they will release the rest . This means only AC/DC and The Beatles are left to sign on.

Airbourne made an announcement that they were not opening for Buckcherry on the North American tour. Apparently there were promoters doing so. They asked that if you want refunds to go back to the promoters and get your refund.

Congratulations to Metallica to be the first band to play all 7 continents in under a year. They just played Antarctica.

Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow will be releasing a limited edition 19 disc box set. It is slated for an early 2014 release.  It is called: The Singles Box Set 1975-1986.

Anvil released an official video for Badass Rock N Roll from the Hope In Hell album. You can watch it here:

If you are looking for something to do because you were left High And Dry on December 29th, then Def Leppard has the answer for you. They will be airing Viva! Hysteria on AXS TV at 8 pm.

To mark the Beatles 50th anniversary they are releasing a 13 disc box set. It celebrates their arrival to America. The box set is called The U.S. Albums. It comes out on January 21. You can watch the trailer here:

Okay, so there was a movie called Blackfish, that was apparently (I haven’t seen it) showing how bad Seaworld treats the fish and now both rock and country acts are canceling shows there. I understand they want to bring awareness to it. Has there been any other investigative reporting done? It doesn’t seem so.  Would the government allow this? But if you think that it’s really going to change all the people who go there to be entertained by them, stop.  Think again. You may get a few but not enough to make the place close. But everyday this week someone canceled but it was okay before. First it was Heart, then Cheap Trick, then Will Nelson then, Trisha Yearwood and now REO Speedwagon.  It’s like saying you won’t go to the grocery store because they sell veal and how the poor calves are treated. I’m not for abuse or anything but this seems like it’s getting out of hand. Not to mention, none of these artists could sell out a 10,000 seat arena. Maybe if Metallica or U2 backed out that would get the attention they are looking for. Okay, that’s my rant on it. I’m done.

Twisted Sister is looking to raise money for a Twisted Sister movie. If you would like to see one, then you can help support them here:

Here is the latest from Serj Tankian (System Of The Down) from his Jazz Is Christ album called Distant Thing:

Iced Earth released a video for Among The Living Dead off of their soon to be released album, Plagues Of Babylon. It comes out January 21, 2014. You can watch it here:

Pearl Jam announced UK Tour dates. Get them here:

Here is something hot off the presses. Please check out this band and what they have to offer. Great sound, by the way. Let me know what you think Former members of 24-7 SPYZ / CAGE / TOURNIQUET Unveil New Band: SEVENTRAIN

The San Diego, CA locals want to bring back that big rock sound with their hard-hitting, blues-based metal band Seventrain which features former Cage guitarist Eric Horton, drummer Joel Maitoza (24-7 Spyz, Shockhead), guitarist Jef Poremba (6ONE9, Coffi Baker…yes, Ginger Baker’s son), vocalist Jon Campos (Dive Bomber), and bassist Greg Rupp who appeared on the album, but was recently replaced by Steve (Dino) Andino (Tourniquet).

The band has been in the recording studio over the past several months with engineer Don Lithgow (Blink 182, Finch, New Found Glory) and is getting ready to release their self-titled debut album in the US and Europe in early 2014.

Drummer/Producer, Joel Maitoza, who is best known for his work with the New York based Heavy Metal Soul group 24-7 Spyz states, “It was a blast to just get back into the studio again with a bunch of old friends and bash out some tunes that replicates the music we all grew up on during the 80s and 90s. Just raw, stripped down, in your face, hard rock lovingly tracked in analog on 2 inch tape.”
