Rockucation

Last week’s Rockucation question: This band has many hits and was fronted by two brothers with a temperous relationship. One of the brothers had a relationship with Chrissie Hynde Of The Pretenders. Glenn Frey I hope this isn’t going to be a trend. Yet again, we lose another legend and icon in the rock world. This time it’s Glenn Frey of The Eagles. He was 67. He died from a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia. Hotel California is one of my favorite albums of all time. He will be missed. RIP, Glenn!

Jimmy Bain

Jimmy Bain bassist for Rainbow and Dio, passed yesterday at the age of 68. No other word on how he died. He recently was part of the Dio tribute, Last In Line. In fact they played their last show on January 20th. RIP, Jimmy!

Dale “Buffin” Griffin

Another rocker death this week is Dale “Buffin” Griffin. He was the drummer of Mott The Hoople. He passed away at the age of 67 from Alzheimer’s.

Wolfmother announced their European tour. Get dates here

Iggy Pop

Apparently Iggy Pop (Stooges ), Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), Josh Homme and Dean Fertita (Queens Of The Stone Age), recorded an album together. The album will be called Post Pop Depression, out on March 18. Not sure what the name of the supergroup is yet. They debuted their first single on the Late Show. The song is Gardenia. Megadeth

Last week, Megadeth released the audio for the title track of their new album out now. This week they released the official video for it. You can check it out here.

The Treatment The Treatment have released a new single this week called Let It Begin. It’s from their soon to be released album, Generation Me, out on March 18. Check it out here.

Santana reunited with his original line up, which featured Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie. They recorded an album to be titled Santana IV that will be released on April 15.

UFO have released a 4 CD Limited Edition Box Set of live recordings called UFO-Live Sightings. You can order it here.

Dream Theater

Dream Theater released another track from their The Astonishing album that comes out January 29. The song is called Moment Of Betrayal. Listen to it here.

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth has filmed a pilot for a show about his family. No word if it’s going to be picked up yet.

Drummer Carmine Appice, who seems to have drummed with everybody, finally has a Memoir. It will be out in May and it will be titled, Stick It! My Life Of Sex, Drums, And Rock ‘N’ Roll Memoir. Rod Stewart writes the foreward. I believe it will be a great read and looking forward to it.
