Music News For The Week Of October 19, 2014!

The Foo Fighters released another track off of their Sonic Highways album that comes out on November 10th. This one is The Feast And The Famine. You can watch it here: Don’t forget their HBO series, Sonic Highways, is out now and you can learn more about it here:

Looks like Rush is planning to tour in 2015, expect some type of anniversary something to be released for it.

Papa Roach released a new song called Warriors off their soon to be released album, F.E.A.R. out on January 27. You can check out the new song here:

In the big whoop department, Danzig is halfway through an EP of Elvis covers. Yeah, how exciting. In other news, he may actually record a new Danzig album.

Smashing Pumpkins released a track off their latest album, Oceana, the song is Being Beige, you can listen to it here:

Last week I asked you to be the judge and gave you my thoughts on this case: if Led Zep stole this from Spirit. Taurus was released in 68 Led Zep opened for them on the tour. Here is Stairway To Heaven: As predicted, the court gave the first round to Spirit. I’ll keep you posted as I learn more.

If you remember the sax solo on the song Baker Street, by Gerry Rafferty, than you know who Raphael Ravenscroft is. He passed this week at the age of 60. They think it was a heart attack.

Bernie Marsden (former guitarist of Whitesnake), released a new song that features David Coverdale on vocals. Marsden’s recent album is called Shine, this track is called Trouble, listen to it here:

Jack Bruce of Cream fame, passed away this weekend at the age of 71. Word is liver disease. The legendary bass player influenced many a player and will be missed in the world of rock! RIP, Jack Bruce!

In other Cream news, they announced this week that they are releasing a 6 LP Vinyl box set. It will be titled: Cream: 1966-1972, it comes out on November 24th.

Foreigner are releasing a live DVD/CD set soon. They are doing a Pledgemusic campaign for it. It will be called The Best Of Foreigner 4 & More. You can find out the details here:

Last week’s Rockucation question was: This cartoon series has featured the following rock stars or bands. Peter Frampton, KISS, David Bowie, and Mick Jagger. Which cartoon is it? Kamran Khan of Seekonk MA, got this one right. The answer is Family Guy.

Sick Puppies singer Shimon Moore found out he was kicked out of the band from the band’s website. Apparently there was some tension amongst them and they decided to move on without him.

Another super group has been made. Are you tired of that term yet? Any way this one features Jack Blades, like that’s a surprise (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake), and Deen Castronovo (Journey, Ozzy). They are calling themselves Revolution Saints and already have their debut recorded and plan on releasing their album in 2015.

Million Dollar Reload has been in the studio for their third album,but they released a track from it  called Penny For Your Dirty Mind. Check it out here:

In case you missed it, Primus drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander is back in the lineup after open heart surgery. His first gig was the Philadelphia show.

Seventrain is working on their second album. Guitarist Eric Horton says, “This next album of material is going to be much heavier than the first record. I’m excited to see where the writing process takes us since some of the other members in the band have been contributing various ideas. There will still be a bluesy element to the songwriting, but the metal side will be much more dominant than the first album.” If you don’t know who they are you can check out their latest video here:

The Butcher Babies have released a new song just in time for Halloween called They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! It’s from their covers album called Uncovered, out now. The song was originated by Napoleon XIV. You can watch it here:

Martin Scorsese will be producing a documentary on the Grateful Dead for the 50th anniversary of the band. It is slated to come out some time next year 2015.
