Music News For The Week Of September 1, 2013
I don’t usually get this excited about an up and coming release but this band does that to me. This is Alter Bridge. This is their video for Addicted To Pain off of their soon to be released Fortress album. It comes out on October 8th. They are doing one American date before heading out to Europe. That date is October 4th in Orlando. It is already sold out. Unfortunately, I won’t be one of the attendees. But I will see them when they come back over. You can preorder this on iTunes now and if you would like the European dates and more info, you can go here:http://www.alterbridge.com/

Last week’s Rockucation was: In 2009, what band became the loudest band in the world? Though we had many guesses, Van Halen, The Who, Ted Nugent, none were correct. But some of them held the title at one time or another. The correct answer is KISS, In Ottawa, Canada. They were playing at 136 decibels and were asked to turn their volume down.
This is the latest from HIM. This one is called Into the Night. It’s off of their latest release, Tears On Tape. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6xaurYbY6c You can catch them on tour now, get dates here:http://www.heartagram.com/
Christine McVie, who didn’t want to tour with Fleetwood Mac, said she would play in the shows in the UK if asked. Might be worth going to those shows for the chance to see that.

In case you missed, the bands we thought might be playing the Super Bowl aren’t in the running anymore. The NFL has decided to go with Bruno Mars. I don’t have anything to add to that.

You may remember a band out of Canada called Saga, then again maybe not. They did have a hit with On The Loose. Well if you are interested they apparently will be releasing a 2CD/DVD live release called Spin It Again. No date has been issued yet. But you might want to keep your eye open for that.
The Rolling Stones will be releasing a 2 CD/DVD live release of their return to Hyde Park. It is called Sweet Summer Sun-Hyde Park Live. It will have different versions with special editions. It comes out on November 11th.
Ok, if you are keeping tabs on super groups this year, here is another one called Metal Allstars. It features Phil Anselmo, Joey Belladonna, Max Cavalera and Udo Dirkschneider. You should know who these guys are and if you don’t, then you should Google them and find out. Others may join them. Right now, all I have is that they may be doing a charity show. Will keep you posted if I find out anything new.
This week’s Rockucation question is: Name the artist and the song from these lyrics:
“Woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand
Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?
Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?
Must have been a dream I don’t believe where I’ve been”
