Music News For The Week Of September 1, 2013

I don’t usually get this excited about an up and coming release but this band does that to me. This is Alter Bridge. This is their video for Addicted To Pain off of their soon to be released Fortress album. It comes out on October 8th. They are doing one American date before heading out to Europe. That date is October 4th in Orlando. It is already sold out. Unfortunately, I won’t be one of the attendees. But I will see them when they come back over. You can preorder this on iTunes now and if you would like the European dates and more info, you can go here:

Slayer announced dates for a North American Tour. Get dates here:

In case you keep track of these things, Little Richard is retiring at the age of 81.

I had played a version of this awhile back but here is the official release of Black Label Society’s version of Ain’t No Sunshine (Originally done by Bill Withers) for his Unblackened album coming out on September 24th. You can watch it here:

You can hear Sammy Hagar’s new song that features Ronnie Dunn (Country star). This one is called Bad on Fords And Chevrolets. It will be coming out on his album, Sammy Hagar And Friends album, September 24. Listen to it here:

Seether will be releasing a 2 disc greatest hits CD called Seether 2002-2013. It comes out on October 29. It will also include three new tracks.

Art Of Dying’s Johnny Hetherington is releasing piano versions of the band’s songs. This one is Best I Can. You can check it out here:

Gene Simmons will be releasing a new book in early 2014 called Me Inc. Like there would be any other title. No surprise there.

Soundgarden released a new video for Halfway There from their King Animal album. You can watch it here:

You can get a free download of Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart here:

Last week’s Rockucation was: In 2009, what band became the loudest band in the world? Though we had many guesses, Van Halen, The Who, Ted Nugent, none were correct. But some of them held the title at one time or another. The correct answer is KISS, In Ottawa, Canada. They were playing at 136 decibels and were asked to turn their volume down.

This is the latest from HIM. This one is called Into the Night. It’s off of their latest release, Tears On Tape. You can catch them on tour now, get dates here:

Christine McVie, who didn’t want to tour with Fleetwood Mac, said she would play in the shows in the UK if asked. Might be worth going to those shows for the chance to see that.

Alice In Chains released another song off of their latest album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. The video is of the same name. You can watch it here:

In case you missed, the bands we thought might be playing the Super Bowl aren’t in the running anymore. The NFL has decided to go with Bruno Mars. I don’t have anything to add to that.

Korn has released the official video of Never Never. You can check it out here:

Eric Clapton’s Unplugged will be getting the special treatment for its remastered release. It comes out on October 15th. It will be a 2 CD and DVD release, with outtakes and rehearsal footage, etc.

Mike Portnoy was in another supergroup (which includes Steve Morse) this year called Flying Colors. They released an album of the same name. They finally released a live video from it called The Storm. They also may be releasing a live CD as well. You can check out the song here:

You do realize we have a weekly poll on the right side of the page right. You should vote. Just making sure you know it’s there.

The British band called Temperance Movement is letting you preview their debut album for free. I like it, maybe you will as well, give it a try. It comes out on September 16th. You can listen to it here:

You may remember a band out of Canada called Saga, then again maybe not. They did have a hit with On The Loose. Well if you are interested they apparently will be releasing a 2CD/DVD live release called Spin It Again. No date has been issued yet. But you might want to keep your eye open for that.

The Rolling Stones will be releasing a 2 CD/DVD live release of their return to Hyde Park. It is called Sweet Summer Sun-Hyde Park Live. It will have different versions with special editions. It comes out on November 11th.

Ok, if you are keeping tabs on super groups this year, here is another one called Metal Allstars. It features Phil Anselmo, Joey Belladonna, Max Cavalera and Udo Dirkschneider. You should know who these guys are and if you don’t, then you should Google them and find out. Others may join them. Right now, all I have is that they may be doing a charity show. Will keep you posted if I find out anything new.

This week’s Rockucation question is: Name the artist and the song from these lyrics:

“Woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand

Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?

Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine?

Must have been a dream I don’t believe where I’ve been”
