Music News For The Week Of September 7, 2013

Now here is a great match up. Gov’t Mule featuring Myles Kennedy on vocals. This song is called Done Got Wise. This will be on their album, Shout, coming out on September 16th. This just shows how versatile Myles is. Apparently the rest of the rock world is finding out about how great of a talent he is and are recruiting him to guest on their records. As always Myles is amazing. Listen for yourself here:

Neil Fallon, the front man for Clutch, has cancelled their September dates and has rescheduled them for January.  Fallon has a severe back problem for which he is going to have surgery.

This past week there has been some controversy going on between Sebastian Bach and Nikki Sixx. Bach claims that Motley Crue asked him to join the band back in the 90’s and Sixx says that it’s not true. Bach came Back and said he rehearsed with them and again Sixx said it wasn’t true. Bach not taking things lightly posted this video where Sixx on the Headbanger’s Ball actually mentioned that they did. Your call if you think he was helping or being asked to join. There was video but it now has been pulled don. You can research yourself to see. But it likes like he was asked to help at the very least.

Former Megadeth guitarist, Marty Friedman, is finishing up a new album that will be out in January. He claims it is very heavy, the heaviest stuff he has ever done.

Trivium has released a video for their song Strife from their up and coming album, Vengeance Falls, coming out on October 15. I like this track, the riffs and drums are fantastic. You can watch the video here:

Brian May said during a recent interview that they have found some recordings from Freddy Mercury that they didn’t know they had and may be enough for a full album. We may see something in 2014.

Last week’s Rockucation question was: Name the artist and the song from these lyrics: “Woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand, whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine? Whose wine, what wine, where the hell did I dine? Must have been a dream I don’t believe where I’ve been” The answer comes from Rich Aubin of Jackson, NJ. The artist was Peter Frampton and the song was Do You Feel Like We Do?

Five Finger Death Punch released a video for Battleborn the Battlefield 4 game. You can check it out here:

Consider this your PSA. David Bowie is on the new Arcade Fire album Reflector. Arcade Fire should not be mentioned on this site but since David Bowie graced their record, I thought I would mention that.

Paul McCartney released a video for New from his new album, New. You can check it out here:

Black Sabbath is releasing a live DVD called “Live…Gathered In Their Masses.” It is due on November 26. It contains footage from their April 29 and May 1 shows in Melbourne.  Here is a teaser:

Yet another cover album. This time it’s Halestorm. This is their second one.  It will be an EP entitled ReAnIMate 2.0: The CoVeRs eP. Yes, that’s how they spelled it, not my typos. It will features tracks from Judas Priest and AC/DC.

In the believe it or not category, there is a petition to have GWAR play the 2015 Super Bowl. You can sign it here: I’m betting it won’t happen, you can call that a hunch.

On December 8, Billy Joel and Carlos Santana will be receiving the Kennedy Center Honors award.

Bad Religion will be releasing a Christmas album with 9 Christmas songs on it. It comes out on October 28.
