New Super Group The Winery Dogs And Other News….

I had mentioned this band in the past, Heaven and Earth, and their new album Dig is streaming right now even though they released it. You may just want to buy a copy. You can listen to it here: Richie Havens passed at the age of 72. There is a public memorial being planned. If you don’t know who he is, you should look him up.

Metallica’s new 3D movie, Through The Never, will be released to Imax theaters in North America for one week starting September 27th. The release of the movie will be October 4th.

Michael Munroe has a new album coming out called Horns and Halos on August 27. You can hear the single/video, Ballad Of The Lower East Side. You can see it here:

Megadeth’s new song, Super Collider, is the title track of their new album that comes out June 14. You can hear it here: Last week’s Rockucation question was: David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes were in the same band. What was that band? Interestingly enough lots of you said Whitesnake and though David Coverdale fronts that band, Glenn Hughes was never a part of it. The answer is Deep Purple, provided by Kamran Khan of Seekonk, MA.

Black Sabbath has announced the full dates for their North American tour which should not be missed. Dates are here: In case you didn’t realize it, iTunes started 10 years ago this week. Do you remember your first purchase?

The Uproar festival announced dates and the lineup for the shows and you can get all of that here:

Styx will be releasing The Grand Illusion-Pieces Of Eight live album on May 7th.

David Lee Roth is saying that Van Halen are planning a new album. Maybe it will happen since now they are doing some dates. We can hope.

Geoff Tate wants to know if you really hate the album Frequency Unknown. He doesn’t want you to sit at a keyboard but instead give a video rant on YouTube to them. You need to give your name and rant. Geoff in turn will film himself picking the best rant and will post it online for everyone to see. Winner will get an all expenses paid trip to Queensryche hometown of Seattle, WA on June 29th, with VIP seating, meet and greet and a merchandise package worth $250. Have at it friends.

Filter has set June 3rd as the release date for their new album The Sun Comes Out Tonight. You can hear some samples here:

Rush has a Retrospective collection coming out, called The Complete Mercury Years and The Studio Albums 1989-2007. It will be released on May 14.

Another super group called Kings Of Chaos, features former members of Guns and Roses, Matt Sorum, Gilby Clarke and Duff McKagan, Joe Elliot (Def Leppard, Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion) and Ed Roland (Collective Soul). No other news than that I’m afraid to say. But should be interesting to see what they put out.

This weeks Rockucation question is: What do Metallica’s Death Magnetic, Kid Rock’s Born Free, Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns, ZZ Top’s La Futura and Black Sabbath’s 13 all have in common?
