Tis the Season and the Dead Daisies delivered. Nothing else I want to add here. Just want to say I hope everyone enjoys the holidays! See ya next year!
Rockucation
Last week’s Rockucation question: This band based its name from the bible, in Genesis where Cain kills his brother Abel. The band isn’t religious, but the lead singer learned this when he was attending a Catholic School. What is the name of the band?
Who is the band? Answer: Avenged Sevenfold.
Winner/s: None. Saving Abel wasn’t correct, but a good try.
This week’s Rockucation question is: This band’s album titled was inspired by a Ray Bradbury novel. The title of the album is the melting point for most rocks. Name the band and album.
Think you know this music question? Take a guess by clicking the link above! If you answer it correctly, your name will be featured in next week’s Rockucation section.
Music News
Bad Company
Bad Company put out a performance clip for their song, Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy. It’s from their up and coming performance on PBS’s Soundstage, airing on January 5th. The band performs 11 songs. The show was recorded at the Grainger Studio in Chicago IL, from their 2016 tour with Joe Walsh. Watch the clip here.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees
The 2017 Rock Hall Of Fame Inductees are as follows: Pearl Jam, Yes, Journey, ELO, Joan Baez and Tupac Shakur. That being said, they failed again. The other piece to this is that they pick the line ups as opposed to everyone who has a history with the band. The Hall of Shame doesn’t make it easy to like what they do. It’s unfortunate that they keep mixing unrelated artists to the hall for Rock.
The Grateful Dead The Grateful Dead are giving away 30 downloads, they are calling 30 Days Of Dead. You can download them here.
Eric Gales Eric Gales released a new track this week called Carry Yourself, from his forthcoming album, Middle Of The Road, out on March 24, 2017. You can check it out here.

Team Rock The music magazine publisher, Team Rock, is for sale and at this time has stopped. The magazines under their banner are, Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, Blues and Prog. They also have Team Rock Radio and Teamrock.com. They laid off 73 of the 80 staff. A tough move right before the holidays. Apparently the magazine was losing over a $250,000 a month. I am a subscriber to Classic Rock, I think this is the best magazine on the music we love. Each magazine is like a mini encyclopedia. They reported above the fray of the usual type of article and went in depth. This is sad day for all rock and metal lovers. They gave a voice to many bands, both new and old. You can read the publisher’s comments on their site here. But all is not lost. There is a crowdfunding page set up for those who lost their jobs. It was started by Ben Ward of Orange Goblin. You can help out here.
Nickelback Apparently Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook) has a thing for Nickelback. I found it funny and thought I would share. You need to have Facebook, but when you play the video, start paying attention at 1:11 mark. Here.
Sepultura Sepultura released Phantom Self from their soon to be released album, Machine Messiah, out on January 13, 2017. Check it out here.
Trivium Trivium parted ways with current drummer, Paul Wandtke. They replaced him with Alex Bent of Battlecross.
Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails have released the final track of their current EP, Not The Actual Events. You can check out Burning Bright (Field On Fire) here.
The Hall Of Metal History The Hall Of Metal History announced their inductees (they apparently know how to do things, unlike the Rock Hall Of Shame) for this coming year. The ceremony will take place at the Anaheim Expo Center in Anaheim, CA, on January 18, 2017. It will be hosted by Eddie Trunk. The inductees are Ronnie James Dio, Metal Blade Records, Scorpions, Rainbow Bar And Grill, Lemmy Kilmister, Ross ‘The Boss’ Friedman, Rudy Sarzo, Frankie Banali, Vinny Appice, Don Airey, Andy Zildjian, and Randy Rhoads. You can get more info and details here.
