Red Sky Mary-Gone!
I think I just found my new favorite band. I came across these guys while listening to Boston Rock Radio. If you like ballsy blues based rock and roll, then this is your band. They are from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Not sure how they never made it onto my radar before this, but glad they are now. My thoughts are that they won’t be local very long. I see them breaking nationally soon, so catch them if you can. Anyway, check them out and get the latest on them here here.
Rockucation
Last week’s Rockucation question: This Seatle, WA, based record label was known for signing such bands as Nirvana, Soundgarden and The Shins in the beginning of their careers. What was the label?
Answer: Sub Pop Records.
Winner/s: Andreas Guettel, Halberstadt, Germany, Evan Portno, Coventry, RI, and Robert McCarthy, Marlboro, MA.
This week’s Rockucation question is: This artist recorded a huge single that has two parts. The artist is a huge soccer fan and fronted a couple of famous bands. The song is one of the first in the rock world that was about a gay person. It was released in the mid seventies. The storyline of the song is about a man coming out to his parents, moving to New York City and eventually getting killed. Name the song and the artist.
