The Cold Stares Release A Staggering Bluesy Single “Hard Times”!
The Cold Stares will be reeling a new record later this year with Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. The Indiana based Blues duo are a force to be reckoned with. They band is made up of guitarist Chris Tapp and drummer Brian Mullins. You can follow them on their website here. To give us a taste of the new album they have released a new single Hard Times. Don’t let the fact that this is a two piece group fool you, after you listen to the song, I dare you to tell me something is missing. This has a full band sound, that makes you wonder how they pulled it off.
The opening riff just pulls you in and Mullins drumming just drives the song and gives it a pace that just makes the song stand out. You can her the angst in Tapp’s voice as he sings about not paying bills and other things that wear you down. I love the line that a black cat won’t even cross his path. Now that’s perspective for someone that is experiencing hard times. The song is very relatable when you consider what we’ve gone through with the pandemic.
The video shows the two them performing the song in Sam Phillips Studio in Memphis Tennessee. You can feel the energy and the intensity of the single. Overall, I think this is a duo that you will follow and want on your playlists. Check it out below.
