The Station Fire Memorial Park!

I thought I would share with you what the place of such a tragedy has become. On February 20, 2003, 100 people died and 230 were injured in a tragic fire during a Great White show at The Station in West Warwick, RI. I have no words to describe what happened that evening, as I live a stone’s throw away from there. Below is a video of the events that night.

I had worked the closing shift that night and actually was on my way home to go to that show. But as I was going home I had to go through police checks to get to my home. Once I arrived home I found out what happened. Saddened obviously, my wife and I gave the fireman and police offices water and coffee, as well as the use of our bathroom all night. But I digress. This is a piece about the Memorial Park they built in honour of the fallen of the station fire.

The official dedication took place on May 17, 2017. The layout is based on a guitar shape. If you want to visit the Station Site, 211 Cowestt Avenue, West Warwick, RI, 02893. You can see more details about the park on their site here. Below I took some photos of the park for you to see what it’s like.
